Power vs. Energy
The always-insightful James H. Kunstler notes that without cheap energy, America isn't the "world's most powerful nation," in fact it's totally at the mercy of others.
Salient point: without oil imports from friendly-ish nations like Saudia Arabia, Venezuela and others, the US has exactly four years of oil left based on its current -- and rising -- rate of consumption.
Right now, the US consumes 25% of all oil produced. In real numbers, the States will burn through 20 bn of the estimated 80 bn barrels that will be produced worldwide today alone.
Happy motoring!

Double Dagger
The first ever "designcore" band, Double Dagger (a reference to this footnote marker: ‡) have songs called "Corporate Logo Preservation Society," "Punk Rock vs. Swiss Modernism," "Lorem Ipsum," "Command-X, Command-V" and "CMYK." What's not to love? (Via the ever-lovin' Optimuscrime.)

San Francisco 2001
Another new old photoset, of our trip to San Francisco in 2001, all flickr-tastic now.
PVC Britpop Night, Petit Campus, 2001

An old photoset that I rather liked. We were all so young and thin back then.
Your Future Workspace

Brothr
If you like travel photography, check out my brother Neil's Flickr photostream of his jaunts to Thailand and Vietnam, plus some nifty snaps from NYC and his adopted hometown of Vancouver.
Also, hire him, dammit.
UPDATE: He's now working at a little search engine company in Santa Clara. Congrats!

New photoset: Milwaukee 2001
Yes, it's taken me four years to get around to posting all these pictures. Did I mention that iPhoto 5 is extreeeemely fast and slick? And they've updated the FlickrExport plugin to work with it? Anyway...go look at these sunny summer pictures and remember that the snow will melt soon.
Instal A Spell Checker? What a Dilemna! Or is that just Pure Mulct?
Here I am, well into my 30s, brain the size of a planet and all, and I'm still coming across new words every day.
Well, some are really new words, and others are just popularized misspellings. But they get my language dander up all the same...

Flickr Colour Picker
Officially the coolest thing I've seen people do with Flickr. Delivers selections of photos from the Squared Circle Flickr photo pool using a Flash colour-picker interface. I could play with this all day.
Find it at:http://www.krazydad.com/squaredcircle/colorfinder.php
