Timeless vs. Trendy
My next article for TheCreativeForum.com is about the value of timeless design. In an era where computers and new materials allow us to do literally anything, is there a danger that we're ignoring, or even losing, the wisdom inherent in older forms?

Pickup Lines
My article from The Creative Forum has been picked up by another Jupitermedia site, The Graphic Design Forum.
The Creative Forum is aimed at creative directors and ADs, with a focus on design choices and decisions, and the Graphic Design Forum is tilted more towards the practical and technical end of the business. Both are chock-a-block full of great content, interviews, ideas and inspiration. Go check 'em out!

New Design Column
My first published column is now online at TheCreativeForum.com, brought to you by the graphics.com group and the publishers of STEP magazine. I'll be contributing articles to the forum twice a month, and eventually those articles will reappear at my biz blog.
This first article examines the expectations of design graduates, vs. the realities of the working world. I was very lucky to interview Michael Bierut, senior AD at Pentagram, and Christina Hagopian, founder/proprietor of NYC-based hagopian ink.
Go read, then sign up and participate in the forums.
My editor, Steve Kapsinow, asks me to let you all know that thecreativeforum.com is experimenting with giving away some free (presumably ad-supported) blog space for artists and designers -- if you're interested, let me know and I'll put you in touch.

Lickr: Flickr Without The Flash
My brother Neil wrote it. He's THAT smart.
While you're on his site, check out his other nifty programs, Tag-O-Vision, which blends 50 Flickr images with similar tags, and Google Draw, which deconstructs the overlay line-drawing API used in Google Maps.
