If you don't ask, you don't get
Curt Rosengren wrote about making unreasonable requests, as practiced by Lisa Haneberg at Management Craft.
I learned this principle awhile ago, described by the prosaic phrase "if you don't ask, you don't get" and I wholeheartedly believe in it. People genuinely like to be helpful and they don't get asked as often as you might think.
Curt suggests you think about what unreasonable requests you can make: I'd like you to think about what unreasonable requests you can grant. These out of the blue connections could turn into immensely gratifying experiences, but you'll never know unless you say yes.
